The American Automobile Association (AAA) recommends for traveling dunring cold temperatures
NEW YORK'S NORTH COUNTRY AAA has issued many driving safety suggestions in light of the several winter storm watches and wind chill advisories now in place.
The firm has issued a press statement stating that they are anticipating increased call traffic as a result of the expected weather conditions. Extremely low temperatures, negative wind chills, and substantial precipitation are all part of the forecast.
AAA also stated that service requests from members who are in dangerous circumstances are prioritised first, and that citizens should call 911 if they are in an emergency scenario. According to Steve Steinmetz, Director of Automotive Services for AAA Western and Central New York, safety should always come first.
AAA, member safety is our first priority, and roadside rescue is our top priority," Steinmetz added. "We appreciate your patience if you are at home or in a secure location as we work to protect the safety of those on the road first."
- For the Buffalo Bills game, Steinmetz said the firm would have technicians on standby in the parking areas of Highmark Stadium in case anyone breaks down. All ticketholders will be able to use the service.
- "For football fans braving the weather to see the Buffalo Bills, allow additional time on busy roads that may be iced or snow-covered, and avoid using your car radio for music while tailgating to avoid depleting the battery," Steinmetz said.
Although the organization advised residents to stay at home rather than venture out into the cold, they also offered instructions on how to drive in the cold. Residents were encouraged to dress warmly and have extra warm clothing in their vehicles.
Residents should also ensure that their gas tank is full and that they have at least one blanket as well as a shovel in their vehicle. In case they become trapped, they should bring bottled water and a few high-protein foods with them.
Finally, residents are advised to bring their smartphone and a charger, as well as to let someone know where they are going and to stay in touch.
