On Thursday night, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake located deep beneath Cook Inlet jolted Southcentral Alaska, including Anchorage.

According to the USGS and Alaska Earthquake Center, the quake struck at 8:18 p.m. on the west side of the inlet at a depth of 64 miles. The epicentre of the earthquake was located 41 miles west of Kenai.
The magnitude was first recorded as 4.8, but it was later revised to 5.1.
On the Kenai Peninsula and in Anchorage, it was felt. There were no early reports of damage, and no tsunami warnings were issued.
